India Amos

India is a classically trained artist having studied at the renowned atelier Lavender Hill Studios for three years and then taught there for another four. Her artistic roots lie with the fundamental principles of drawing and painting yet she is always trying to push these boundaries and bring the traditions of drawing and painting into the 21st century. Indias’ artistic focus is not on the subject matter itself but on the manipulation of the material she uses and the composition and design elements of the whole. In recent work India has been preoccupied with translating the Japanese concept of ‘Ma’, meaning the space in between, into her work.
